A player may become a bounty hunter by saying “Join” or “Enroll” to any bounty hunter in the world. The bounty hunter will request 500 gold pieces that must be given to them in order to complete registration.
There are bounty hunters located in the towns of Albus, Bowan, Roache and on the island of Scelus at the bounty hunter headquarters.
Unlike the way it used to be in Ultima Online (where any bounty you placed on your killers head was inevitably a total pointless waste that likely only profited your killer), it actual has impact on Sanctum.
The amount of gold associated with the bounty is directly tied to how severe of a penalty the murderer shall face if their severed head is turned in. The greater the bounty, the harsher their consequence.
Joining the bounty hunters does not prevent a player from doing anything in the world; they are able to participate in militias, steal, craft, anything. Bounty hunters may not become murderers; if they do they are immediately banished from being a bounty hunter. Murderers of course are also prohibited from joining in the first place.
To resign your status as a bounty hunter simply say the line, “I resign as a bounty hunter“.
A murderer is spotted.
A murderer is killed by a bounty hunter and his head obtained.
The severed head of a murderer as obtained by this bounty hunter.
Bounty hunters will have a special “severed head” appear in their pack when they kill a player killer. They will receive a percentage of the player-generated bounty when they turn in the head (and none of the automatically generated). By doing it this way we’re able to reward bounty hunters and create a system in which there is no incentive for any killer to turn in his own head.
- This special head, the “severed head” may only be obtained by the bounty hunter that deals the killing blow.
- If he turns it in he is able to claim any of the bounty on that murderer and inflict them with their statloss penalty.
- The head is not blessed and can be stolen, traded or looted.
- Bounty hunters to turn in heads may be found in the cities of Bowan, Albus, Roache and their bounty hunter headquarters on the island of Scelus.
Rhubarb, the bounty hunter, turns in a head to inflict stat loss on Chomps and claim his reward. A check appears in his backpack with his reward.
- Once the head is turned in, all other existing heads of that murderer become “rotting heads”.
- They no longer will reward a player with any reward or inflict the atonement penalty or statloss for outcasts when turned in.
This poor fellow was just a moment too late turning in his head.
